Studio 1 Saturday Class fun!! Studio 1 has a roster of Saturday Classes this Fall that will fill all your theater needs. Whether it’s nailing that big audition, learning to paint your face for fun or a scary Halloween effect, or learning the basics of stage combat, Studio 1 has everything you need for great theater times this autumn.
Audition Master Class-taught by Ashley Phipps-Saturday August 19th-10 AM to 1 PM
Participants should prepare two contrasting monologues: one contemporary piece and one classical piece (Shakespeare in verse is encouraged as the classical piece but not required!)
Each student will have a 3-minute audition slot, but each monologue should not exceed 1 minute (45 seconds each is encouraged), so that there is time to give Ashley your headshot/resume and to introduce your pieces. Your 3-minutes will begin when you enter the stage; we will cut off actors who exceed 3-minutes.
We will also work on cold readings, what directors look for, how to improve your resume, proper headshots, and general audition etiquette. Cost $20 per student
Face Paint instruction Class –taught by Cheryl Dixon-Saturday September 23rd 10 AM to 1 PM
In this exciting face painting demonstration class, the students themselves will get to be the models. Students will learn the basics of face painting, including brush strokes, how to work with theatrical make-up, simple face designs and full face designs by request. There are no supplies required, just a willingness to have fun and learn. Cost $20 per student.
Graphics Effect Make-up-taught by Bill Mulligan-Saturday October 21st 10 AM to 1 PM
Just in time for Halloween, this class will show the students how to get amazing scary make-up effects with easy to find materials that can be purchased at the store or online.
